How much to charge for a custom t-shirt
Pricing right is the difference between a shop that grows and one that works hard without profit. Here is a healthy formula.

The formula
Price = total cost ÷ (1 − desired profit margin). Total cost includes the blank, the print, electricity and wear, packaging and your time.
| Cost | Example |
|---|---|
| Blank t-shirt | 10 |
| DTF transfer | 4 |
| Electricity, packaging and wear | 1 |
| Your time (10 min) | 2 |
| Total cost | 17 |
| Price with 40% margin (17 ÷ 0.6) | 28.3 → 29 |
Values are an example in any currency: replace them with your own.
Mistakes that lose money
- Copying a competitor's price without knowing your costs.
- Not counting design and customer service time.
- Forgetting packaging and shipping.
- Not asking for a deposit before production.
Dozen pricing
Offer about 10% off per dozen: you earn a bit less per piece but sell 12 at once.
